Letters of Thanks
Letter from Mrs Lorna Jones

I am sorry to have to tell you that Peter passed away suddenly and peacefully on the 20th June at Sunnyside Lodge in Plumstead where he spent his last few days.
Thank you so much for your lovely note and kind thoughts.
I couldn't have managed without the help you and the Sisters and Carers and Admin staff gave me over those difficult last six months at home. What I really appreciated is that my needs were always accommodated and adjustments made at short notice if necessary. Nothing was too much trouble.
Thank you all, I am so thankful to have had your help. You render an invaluable service.

Warm regards,
Lorna Jones

It is with great appreciation that I write this letter.
The service your organisation renders is absolutely top class and invaluable to people that have ailing loved ones.

Message from Ed Grondel

Good day Sister Storer,

Thank you for your note of sympathy, and also to your staff who have made the last days of my mom's life as comfortable as possible.
Whilst I do not know everyone's names yet, I can at this stage mention Dorcas and Mandisa who were real gems, and Sister Little, who was called out when my mom died, who was wonderfully supportive.

My compliments to you on the quality of your staff.

Kind regards,
Ed

Email received from Mrs Niemeyer

Dear Sister Storer,

I want to thank you and your team for the help and support you gave Tony during the very short time that he was being nursed and the way you handled his death. Trish Little and Sekiwe were with me and apart from being highly professional, their calm, reassuring approach helped me cope.
An extra special thank you must go to Thumeka and Sekiwe. I have seldom met two nurses that showed such compassion, discretion and took so much pride in doing their work. Tony was a very proud man and hated people helping him and he was very comfortable in their loving care.
Another big thank you to Trish Little, you were amazing and helped me through a very traumatic time.
I bless Dr Henry for suggesting I contact you and will always recommend your nursing services and when I need help you will be the only people I will call.

Kind regards
Celia Niemeyer

Email received from Mrs Aileen Davey

Dear Sister Little and the amazing team at Fish Hoek Home Nursing Services:

Over the past 4 weeks in Kommetjie I have had the privilege to meet you and the fantastic caring team who are looking after my Mother - Eileen Sharwood. As I am flying back to New Zealand on Monday morning with my leave from work now exhausted, I wanted to thank you. You have answered so many questions, provided the comfort, assurance and understanding, which means my brothers and I feel very comfortable knowing Mum and Dad are being looked after in the best possible way in their home.

Your caregivers are very professional, caring and respectful of the elderly people they are caring for. I am in awe of the work you all do, as I appreciate how demanding it can be.

Thanks
Aileen

Emailed received from Allison Dunn and family, Lakeside:

On behalf of all my siblings I would like to express our deepest gratitude to all of you for the incredible care, love and support we received from you while mom and dad were ill, and when they passed away. It was such a consolation to us to know that mom and dad were in good hands, and so cared for while they were so ill. It is hard to believe that you only entered our lives at the beginning of April; it seems we have known you for years as you got so involved, so willingly, in the lives of mom and dad. We would like to make special mention of your carers who cared for both mom and dad, and who were with dad when he died. Their kind and gentle nature helped all of us so much; they are a great asset to your organisation.

Once again, our deepest thanks for being strong for us and taking such a burden of care onto your shoulders so willingly. We will never forget what an important part you played in our lives over the past four months. We will be having a special Mass said for all those, including you, who cared for mom and dad and were so good to us. Best Wishes to all in the future,
Kind regards
Allison Dunn.

Email from Mrs Kikky Allan

I just would like to mention that from the moment that we called on yourselves that we have felt a sense of relief in the knowledge that Mama is being looked after by people who care and are professional. Each and every person that we have met with so far from your organisation has been so kind and so professional. So thank you for that. We can now spend our energy on loving her as she deserves.

Dear Sister Storer,
I would like to thank you and your staff for the outstanding service provided in caring for my Grandmother, Mrs Simpson, in her old age and final days of her life. Without your services she would never have been able to continue living in the home she loved so much and we will always be grateful to you for that. I will have no hesitation in recommending Fish Hoek Home Nursing to anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation.
Thanks again,
Chris Lee

Email received from Mrs M Coetzee

My name is Michaela Coetzee, I stay in Thabazimbi, in the Limpopo province. I came to see Sr. Storer a couple of days ago when my gran was discharged from the hospital. We didn't know what to do and where to start. My mom and I went to you and I could not believe how kind and compassionate everyone is at Fish Hoek Home Nursing. We were all very distraught and sister took charge and did everything for us, what a very kind woman. The nurses that are now looking after my gran are so sweet and treat my gran and grandpa with so much kindness and compassion. The staff at Fish Hoek Home Nursing can be so proud of what they do. They literally waved a magic wand and fixed all our problems. We were all flustered and negative and sister was as calm as can be. She did everything so effortlessly as if it was second nature to her, when mom and I walked out we felt as if a weight was lifted off our shoulders. I want to take this opportunity to thank you all. I will forever be grateful. Even though not all of us say it I want to take this opportunity to say thank you and God bless you all!!!!!!

I don't know what we would do without angels like them.

Lots and lots of love and
Warmest regards
Michaela Coetzee

Email received from Mr Craig du Lucchi

Hi Sister Storer ,
My parents have insisted that I share a short note of thanks to Staff Nurse Nicola Scanes whom has been absolutely fantastic and has gone that extra mile in nursing my dad the last week. The fact that Nicola followed up with a phone call an evening or two ago after the daily treatment certainly meant a lot to both Mom and Dad and for this my sister and I are extremely grateful. Please could you be so kind and make mention to Nicola that her work ethic is top notch and very professional. She is apparently a real MacGyver - mom`s words. I look forward to meeting Nicola!
Kindest Regards
Craig

It is true that there are times in one's life that we are unable to cope. I had such a time and I will be forever grateful for the support and the straight, direct advice as to what to do which was given to me. In my moments of sheer frustration you were all always there to help me and I felt very comforted to know that.
Fish Hoek Home Nursing Services was ultimately my life line. Being new in this area and having no time to make connections, I felt secure in the knowledge that I had all of you behind me right up until my dad's dying moment.
Thank you all for this. I so appreciated the care, consideration and empathy that went along with it,
With fondest regards,
Trish Mc Lea (Mr Arthur Bulless's daughter)

Praise for Fish Hoek Nursing Services: False Bay Echo

I was recently at Constantiaberg Hopsital for an operation, and when I was discharged I had an open wound which required dressing.   Our family has been a member of FHHNS for many years and therefore, we called on them to do my dressing daily.   Speaking as an ex-nursing sister myself, I can, without reservation, state that in addition to the world class standard of nursing care I received, the staff (and special mention needs to be made of Sister Trish Little) were prompt, kind, cheerful and prefessional.   My interaction with them has certainly revived by faith in the nursing profession - which had long ago waned.   So to all the nurses and nurse-aids of the FHHNS, I salute you - and long may you continue to do this little valley of Fish Hoek so pround. With deep gratitude, Shirley Glyn

Dear Sister Storer and the team at FHHNS: I just wish to say thank you very much for the good work you and your team does. I so appreciated the meetings with Sister Martin and getting to know all the dedicated nurses who were allocated to Mr Calderwood's care was a great priviledge for me. I wish to pass my hearfelt thanks to all those who cared for Alistair during his last days. You do have a great team! I have a gentle peace in that I know he was comfortable and relaxed in his last week and that it all we had hoped for. He had also grown to really appreciate the care and understanding which was given to him. Once more, thank you very much, Diana Calderwood

To the Sisters, and day and night nursing staff of Fish Hoek Home Nursing Services: On behalf of the Hoole family, I would like to thank you so much for your professionalism, your kindness and compassion you showed towards my Dad and Mom during the weeks when he was so ill and frail. Dad became very fond of the nurses who cared for him, and for Mom you were all such a support, a source of strength and of good advice. It was also a relief for us to know that the responsibility of caring for Dad was being shared. What an amazing service you offer to the community of Fish Hoek! May you continue to be a blessing in your God-given role, and may the God who comforts be a blessing to you in return. We appreciate your love and care so much, With heartfelt thanks, Wendy Budler, Rob, Andrew and Michael Hoole and their families.
